Conflict Evolution
Like many, I’m aware of how much conflict the world can hold. Sometimes painfully so. I don’t know a world without it. I feel very fortunate to have many life experiences that have moved me through the many dimensions of conflict.
Like anyone else, I’ve had moments when I participated in conflict, and many moments witnessing conflict. When I see it out in the world, I catch myself wondering where it stems from. I consider what could bring some harmony and resonance on the other side of it.
I’ve had instances of being conflict averse. Instances of being conflict unaware. There’s quite a spectrum when exploring the conflict prism. I’ve learned about conflict management, conflict resolution, and conflict transmutation. Honestly, I find it all so fascinating.
I do wish it away at times. But when I’m able to, I try to lean into it. I try to consider if I may have a role in transmuting it. This current time/space dimension we’re living in seems to be riddled in it - I’m still learning what it’s meant for and what it’s all about. There’s conflict represented in nature, conflict represented among human interactions. Is it a necessary part of the divine master plan?
For me, when I think of a more beautiful world, it’s not void of conflict. Perhaps I have yet to arrive to such an evolutionary stage where peace, love and compassion are the only ingredients within a thriving realm. For me, a more beautiful world includes addressing conflict with presence and empathy. Is it meant to lead to new resonance? Is it meant to free dissonance?
Is there some reframing needed to create breadth for exploring healthy conflict? Can there be conflict recognition? Various ways to witness conflict, hold space for it. Can there be morphic resonance in witnessing it in its highest regard? May there be instances in which compassionate inquiry aids in transmutation toward revelation, cooperation and connection. I believe so.
I’m so grateful to connect with others who shared their perceptions, experiences and teachings around conflict. I think of public figures like Gabor Mate and Charles Eisenstein who exemplifier a broader style of how to conveying our experiences. How we speak of such a behemoth dynamic like conflict.
I’m realizing there’s a lot alive in me regarding this topic. I’m grateful to have the opportunities to explore this further. Along with the exploring many other peace building and future visioning ideas and approaches.
Can you relate to these various ‘conflict’ aspects on the spectrum? Do you find it powerful to name these: conflict averse, conflict unaware, conflict management, conflict resolution, conflict transmutation and wishing-conflict-away. Do you see other aspects of this prism?
I believe that well-engaged conflict can provide immense gifts if willing to accept them. Well-engaged conflict can free up energy that can better serve growth and healing. Every day I move toward increasing my capacity to engage with others when difficult moments arise. The unfolding of every healthy relationship requires moving through harmony, disharmony and repair. I intend to face these phases with grace and ease.
