Here we are! At the first new moon of 2025! There’s an Aquarian party happening in our sky - with the Sun and Moon, plus Mercury and Pluto - all in peak attendance. Now that’s an eclectic guest list when you consider that these two sets of archetypes have a yin/yang balance to each other.
Mercury moves quickly, acting as a messenger for our conscious thought. Pluto moves slowly, guided by subconscious underpinnings and what remains hidden. Do you want to take advantage of uncovering something that has yet to see new light? Why not? Part of life’s unfolding is making the subconscious conscious!
If transformation is on your agenda, take this cue to dive in. Consider the routine thoughts and practices that will assist your desired course correction. And what if you’re not seeking big changes? You can still use this fertile ground to reinvigorate what’s been working for you. The intention could be as simple, and as potent, as granting the desire to continually show more of your authentic self in your collaborations.
Engage Your Synthesis
Have you developed a practice for synthesizing your previous successes with your now present needs? What does your process entail? Do you have an Aquarian influence? Are you curious what these Aquarian energies look like for you?
As an air sign, Aquarius resides within the mental plane, which exemplifies objectivity. You can see this as your entry point on how you can harness these energies. Track your thought process. What are you giving more airtime to? With respect to basic mental synthesis, a belief is a thought you think over and over again. Many of those thoughts come from someone other than you. Aquarius allows you to step into the full strength of your own thoughts and what you stand for.
Along with being an air sign, a unique aspect of Aquarius is its water connection. Represented as a water bearer, Aquarius contains a serendipitous link to the water element. Giving this Zodiac sign an eclectic sprinkler system, so that it’s fixed air shall not get too dry. Notably, in contrast to air, water signs reside within the emotional plane and have a subjective nature.
What does this mean? Firstly, the Aquarius emphasis will be through our air currents. Yet, while it likely won’t lead from water, it can be wonderfully informed by water. Bringing some added depth and emotion to what otherwise could be viewed as too clinical or detached (which can occur with unbalanced air sign attributes).
(Unapologetically) Setting Intentions
Is Aquarius represented in your Natal chart? If so, I suggest shaping your new moon intentions around that influence. Like I mentioned regarding Aquarian acquisition (also discussed here) you can make your intentions with sensibility surrounding self-empowerment, liberation and decentralization. This could work for bigger picture items like your work or your role in society. It could also be attributed to a base level of improving your self-care and empowerment (as this will in turn affect how you show up in collaborations and communities).
Two of the readings I did this week included placement of an Aquarius North Node. This is a more subtle Aquarian placement in comparison to other placements. Yet due to the cosmic placement occurring today, this is a great aspect to connect with right now. A chance to receive cosmic backing from the energies for the Sun, Moon, Mercury and Pluto as they hang out together in Aquarius. A formidable committee whose input can impact your karmic unfolding.
What lessons would you like to learn over the next month? Over the next year? You can even set your intentions with or without time restrictions. Remember with Pluto’s influence, there's potential for continual growth, year to year, for the next 20 years. Plant the seeds now, while remaining open to when the growth occurs. Let divine guidance determine the rate of your intention's flourishing.
Time, Time, Time… See What Becomes of Me
If you're feeling some resistance to an essence of timelessness when setting more open, unbounded intentions, I get it. This may feel unfamiliar or unproductive. That’s that tug of war that occurs between Saturn and Uranus. If you’re feeling more influenced by Saturn, you’ll want to honor restrictions and limits around time. If you’re called to a Uranian approach, then set the intentions with an essence of being (rather than doing).
When refraining from time-bound intentions, it’s like placing your bets on who will grant them, Mercury or Pluto. From the cosmos perspective, it’s a win for you either way. Remember, Pluto is going to be in Aquarius for 2 decades - there’s a lot of unfolding to happen and intentions to be granted. Keep adding to the water-bearer’s cup and create your own elixir!
