The old phrase "pie in the sky" refers to something that you hope will happen but is very unlikely to happen. It’s something that’s pleasant to contemplate but questionable as to whether it’ll be realized.
I believe each of us has an idea (or two, or more!) that’s considered “pie in the sky.” The question becomes: do we entertain such ideas? There’s not a finite answer to this. While it’s cautionary to steer clear of widespread delusion, what if we’re meant to attribute some of our thoughtscape to something that may not happen. A lighthouse so far off into the horizon that we may never reach it. Yet conjuring this imagery every day reaps its own reward, even without full actualization.
Further reflections after my recent post about idealism. Do your afflictions from society allow you to be idealistic? Do you allow yourself? Or is there an inner critic that deems your thoughts as “pie in the sky” or actions as someone with their “head in the clouds?”
Astrological Themes & Piscean Dreams
What if I remind you that there are quintessential times for you to lean into your ideals. What if one of those times is right now. With the guidance of our stars, let’s look at our astrological symbolism for the coming weeks. The sun has entered Pisces - welcome our Pisces season! The Pisces new moon is a week away on the 27th, so there’s still time for you to consider what intentions you’ll be planting.
The Pisces energy is strong as this February draws to a close. Sun, Mercury, Saturn, Neptune and North Node are all hanging out in Pisces. Any of these placements may be tugging at you - signaling a direction away from your personal status quo. The combination of all these placements may simply be too much for you to overlook. So just do it; carve out some time to meditate on what Pisces means for you. Especially with regard to Pisces in Neptune, this placement wants you to pull from your dreamscape!
I understand how meditating about Pisces may seem impractical. Simply not a task on your to-do list. I get how the real-time evidence in your daily feedback loop is telling you to keep your head down, put one foot in front of the other, and stay practical. This may feel very true for you. Yet, there’s also a celestial nudging telling you to sense and feel beyond your current circumstances. I’m not saying to withdraw from your grindstones, but can you find room for accessing another realm of reality in the process?
Relatively Speaking & Counterbalance Piquing
Balance is relative, isn't it? The energies, qualities and symbolism of our astrological signs are relative too. I’ve spoken about how Aquarius can give some relief to the grip of Capricornian structures. In this comparison, Aquarian energy provides relief and freedom the Capricornian energy.
Yet, Aquarius too can have a perceived grip. Its fixed nature delivering some version of confinement, like clinging to set beliefs or installing set controls (ex. algorithms in the air space corralling conversation trends). When taking this aspect of Aquarius into account, it's the Pisces energy that provides an opening and freeing outlet.
What does that Pisces freeing outlet look like for you? What if your practical priorities of everyday life are crowding out other important aspects you’re meant to prioritize. Like your soul journey. Is a soul journey even a justifiable assertion for you to explore? Ask yourself if it is. If yes, how do you honor it? Where are you seeing components of your soul journey showing up in your interpersonal connections?
Wishful Thinking vs. Sweet Surrender
One of the things Pisces can be linked to is that which you don’t have control over. Implying that you simply cannot force or solely use willpower to manifest everything you want into existence. Some things, yes - everything, no. I have a belief that human beings don’t have complete control over our shared reality. There are forces beyond us at play. We may never fully know or see some of these forces. What we can do is maintain our relationship to what’s unknown and what’s out of our control.
For some this may be a tough truth to cope with. You may currently think differently. Whatever your stance on nature of total manifestation, Piscean energy can serve your acceptance around not being able to have control over everything. This is where surrender comes in. Finding serenity and contentment through surrender isn’t necessarily the easiest task. Yet once these feelings weave into your essence of being, you feel great!
Surrender is the embodiment that moves us past over-stimulated wishful thinking. Rather than quash your wishful thinking, why not add an embodiment practice that facilitates surrender? Piscean soul lessons involve emotional overwhelm, prompting deep digging for healthy coping mechanisms. Follow those pathways! They can lead to mental clarity and emotional stability. This energy can also lead to sadness, regret and grief. Which then links to compassion. Compassion is a bridging emotion to our elevated states of being. So go through and flow, rather than avoid or build dams.
If all this Pisces talk is making your head spin, no worries - take what lands and leave the rest. That’s a key part of the beauty of Pisces. It’s the most malleable of the signs. So let it influence your life however you see fit. Embrace the dreamer within you, while letting go of exactly how that manifestation may come about.
