Let's continue the discussion around Chiron and the wounded healer.
Since the previous Chiron article, have you had any insights associated with your wound? Are you intrigued by the idea of gaining awareness of your deeper wound when you're triggered by something. How when somebody pokes at a sore spot, it can be an opportunity for you to engage in some healing. Sometimes you shrug it off and ignore it. Sometimes you lean into it, despite the wound being sore. How are you feeling about it?
Let's look at other things that contribute to how Chiron will show up for. Its elliptical orbit and the Saturn and Uranus symbolism are factors. Also, take into account what Chiron is like related to other placements and aspects happening in our sky.
The Saturn-Uranus Polarization
Saturn is the last visible planet from earth. Uranus is further out, beyond visibility. Therefore, Chiron brings speculation around what's visible to you (and what's currently invisible). Considering this on a personal level, you can look at your own self-development and levels of awareness. Are you bringing things to light? Are you bringing to consciousness? What can you sense isn't within your awareness?
With the elliptical orbit occurring between Saturn and Uranus, you'll glean meaning from the influence these planets have on Chiron. The yin/yang of a Saturn/Uranus balance will be expressed due to the nature of this orbit. Chiron's perihelion orbit occurs when it's closest to earth and inside the orbit of Saturn. Chiron's aphelion orbit occurs when it's closest to Uranus (just outside of Uranus' orbit).
Saturn brings more of the karmic lessons, reminiscent of the practical recourse that society imposes with structures and consequences. Whereas the energy surrounding Uranus feels more elusive in comparison. It's eclectic, and you might not pinpoint the Uranian influence as concisely. It allows for more question marks. It encourages being okay with the unknown. To be okay that you're not going to have a hard press answer at the exact moment you want it. Or maybe the answer is there, but it's not fully making sense. Uranian messages don't play out as linearly as Saturnian messages.
Acknowledging Chiron in Aries
Chiron's transit of Aries is from April 2018 till April 2027. Therefore, Chiron is currently in Aries. This is when it's furthest away from earth (closer to Uranus). Although don't let its distance fool you into thinking Chiron doesn't have an effect right now. In the sign of Aries, Chiron will want to make the concerns of the wounded healer very personal.
In my birth chart, Chiron is in Aries. So, anyone who's in a similar Gen X age range, will find themselves in this seven- or eight-year period of Chiron in Aries. This placement and transit will likely feel magnified for those who had this during their birth chart, since it's a Chiron Return for the Chiron in Aries crowd.
If Aries is in your first house, it will be very magnified. For me, according to one house system, Chiron is in my first house, and for the whole sign house system, it's in my second house. Having it associated with the first and second houses, it's important that I take ownership of that wound. If this aspect is similar for you, then the wounded healer is more strewn into your identity and how you show up in the world. If Chiron is in your first house, similar to the vibe of it being in Aries - you'll have this self-identity to your wound. A prominent ownership of "this is who I am" with respect to your wound.
If you get more specific about the wound representation by addressing the house it's in, then you can go even deeper. For example, if it's in the second house, then it might have leanings towards insecurities around self-worth or even money and materials, possessions. Stability within these areas will feel most prevalent and personal.
Balance As a Process, Not a Destination
Let's also consider when Chiron is conjunct or trine with other planets and placements. Periods in life when Chiron plays a compounding role in the larger themes of your soul journey. Moments that could influence the healing of the wound. It can be a reminder that balance IS the process. It's not the destination.
If you ask yourself, "will I ever be fully balanced?" - Can you allow the answer to be a heartfelt "no" if you truly feel full balance is elusive. Balance is continually happening; therefore your sense of a desired stasis will shift. Shifting perspective to understand balance isn't a destination. It's a fluid process.
With Chiron in Aries, there can be a strong affinity towards outcome orientation. The balancing act here is about wanting to harness the action-oriented Aries energy yet be reminded of your ability for process orientation. Using these perspectives to continue feeling your way through things. Rather than saying, "I'm going to reach this point." Moving beyond the idea of, "Once I reach that, then it's done." Even when you think it's done, it's going to take another form.
How you harness this will be intricate to your individual needs. To have your process orientation guide your thoughts. Affirming, "I'm going to use these skills and engage these practices... and it's going to be continual." It's not just for the sake of a goal. Although you can set goals, it'll just include continued consent to oneself. The process of using tools and practices will wax and wane. Your toolkit will be accessible as you move on.
The Sky Informs the Process
Consider what's going on in the sky right now and take cues on where to put your focus. What particular areas of your life and wellbeing are lighting up. The astrological aspects and transits will suggest how you can engage in your processes.
From a cognitive behavioral basis, you'll use both process orientation and outcome orientation. These are different levers for you to gauge. Similarly, there are times it seems more suited to focus on your strengths and other times to be more focused on your weaknesses. When you have forward momentum of astrological backing of, there's positive movement and progress getting things done. That's when it's awesome to lean into your strengths.
If planets aren't going direct or the energy seems slow with less forward momentum, then choose an aligned approach. When things are slowing down or it's opportune time for introspection - this could be a time to look at weaknesses. Even if you'd rather just get things done, there may be a better time for that. So, choose accordingly. If it's not working, then you can't force things into place.
Sometimes it's cool to pivot and decide, it's time to work on something else right now. Time for exploration around the weaknesses, around the wounds, revisiting them. You're not meant to get lost there or wallow in it. But to shine that mirror on those aspects of yourself and engage the healing process. Reacquaint yourself with how the repetition of these wounds show up. What they look like this day and year.
Why Discuss This?
Such an intense process may not necessarily appeal to a lot of people because it can seem abrupt and scary. It can throw you off center if it's too harsh. Like with the chakras and Kundalini, if moments of big awareness occur, they could really throw people off someone's stability. It can feel like a bolt of lightning going through you. Yet, you'd survive it and come out stronger on the other side. So if that is what's in store for you, hang on for the process and remember the intense part is temporary.
I'm curious what other people think. I'd love for this particular topic to be a continued discussion as I think others could bring prolific examples of their wounds in addition to any hypothetical examples. I enjoy laying down the groundwork with these concepts and broadening the perspectives around them. The intention is for wound healing to become functional. For you to dive deeper into what you feel your challenges are around your wound.
