What is Pre-healing?
Due to lifestyle changes from the pandemic, things have slowed down for many. Routines and aspects of busier living have been altered. Some of us have the embers of feeling like it’s a good time to engage the healing process. Then we catch ourselves thinking, “Wait, what do I need to do to heal?” Followed by thoughts along the lines of: “Is this the right time to heal?” and “If so, how am I going to heal?”
This is pre-healing contemplation. Contemplation of our healing, and it’s certainly part of the process of healing. Thing is, if we contemplate it too much, we may force ourselves into healing. This isn’t how deep healing truly works though, right? Healing is based more within an aspect of “being” rather than “doing.” It may seem like a good time to do it, since we have a little less to do now during the changed behaviors of the pandemic. It may register in our heads that we need to schedule some healing time, adding it to a ‘to-do’ list.
There’s nothing “wrong” with that, per se. It’s just that there’s a distinction of allowing those moments of healing to flow and come to us when in alignment. When we come up against those thoughts about “needing to find the time to heal” perhaps they are a signal for something else. What if it were an indicator of pre-healing. A space to simply “be” in before the healing takes place, whenever that healing may take place.
I know, but there’s time now! And there’s a voice in our head saying, “use this time now,” and take advantage of the ‘break’ happening due to these current circumstances. I have that voice, and it almost feels like self-sabotage not to listen to it. Here’s the thing, each of us is currently experiencing the newness and the effects of this pandemic. This is uncharted territory for us as individuals and as a collective. Yes, wouldn’t it be grand it we were each fully healed having entered this current reality. But we are not, and that’s okay. We don’t have to catch up.
We are fine where we are in our healing process. Right now is another wave of uncertainly. It has emotional layers and various triggers. It’s okay to give ourselves time to wade in that for awhile. We will have thoughts to do what we think we need to continue to heal. At times it will feel that the thoughts are coming up against a block or wall. It may feel like hesitation, and seem as if things aren’t coming to fruition in the way we think they should.
Let this be your stage of pre-healing. Sink into the uncertainty of the present, and trust that you will continue to align. The healing tools and situations meant for you to experience next, will come. You don’t have to make it happen. If you hear a voice in your head bubbling up to say, “but you’re not doing anything,” then this means you’re pre-healing. Embrace it.
